Here’s an invitation message from Dutch Delight and Goblin, Paris hashers gone to Les Alpes to open their own hotel…8 years ago already !!!
After a successful 5th anniversary celebration of the one and only Hautes-Alpes Hash and Bash, it is time again for another epic gathering in the picturesque village of La Grave! In September this year we will blow out 8 candles….come and join us to celebrate!
When? Weekend of 16 – 18 september 2011
Where? La Grave, in the Hautes-Alpes region, about 70 km east of Grenoble, 150 km west of Turin, 200 km south of Geneva and 400 km north of Nice.
What’s on the programme?
A weekend of running, drinking, drinking, running (in whatever orderyou like…) and lots more.
To give you a rough idea:
Friday, September 16 – arrival, welcome drink and dinner at the Edelweiss Restaurant
Saturday, September 17 – Birthday run with lots of appropriate stops, on-in with snacks followed by dinner and party
Sunday, September 18 – Marmot run, followed by barbecue lunch.
After Sunday lunch the weekend ends, but you are more than welcome to stay for a few more extra nights to explore the region, or come before the weekend starts.
What will it cost?
Price for the weekend, including all the drinks, food and goody bag: 60 euros per person. This does not include accommodation.
So where can we sleep?
There is a special price for accommodation at the Edelweiss hotel: 25 euros per person per night, including breakfast. There are double, triple and quadruple rooms and even a few spacious rooms that sleep 5 and 6 people. First come first served! http://www.hotel-edelweiss.com

If you decide to come earlier or stay longer, Auberge Edelweiss will apply the same discount rates, i.e. 25 euros pp/pn.
How to get there.
–by plane: quite a few European low cost airlines will fly directly to Grenoble, which is at a bit more than an hours drive from La Grave: http://www.grenoble-airport.com. Other easy access points by plane are Chambery, Lyon, Turin and Geneva. >From the Grenoble airport there are regular coaches to Grenoble city center from where coach will bring you right in front of the hotel entrance: http://www.vfd.fr. Major car hire companies now operate from Grenoble too.
–by train: there are a few fast trains (TGV) daily from Paris to Grenoble. Takes less than 3 hours. From the Grenoble train station there are 2 coaches a day that bring you right in front of the hotel entrance: http://www.vfd.fr. You can also rent a car or when you are a big group (max 8 people) reserve a taxi (check rates with Taxi de la Meije: http://www.taxidelameije.com / email@example.com).
